Dear Staff and Parents,
Welcome to Bailey Elementary School, home of the Bears! I am honored to join this extraordinary school community and I look forward to serving alongside you and the Bailey staff, to bring high quality learning experiences to our students.
I have served as a public educator for over 30 years. My previous roles have included those of teacher, principal and district director. I graduated from CSU-Northridge in Mathematics, earned an MA in Education Leadership from CSU-Bakersfield, MA in Student Centered Instruction from Alliant University, and completed my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from University of Southern California – “Fight On!”
On a personal note, I am married to Irene, a special education administrator. Together, we have three children, Elisabeth who will be getting married to Patrick this coming October. Barbara a quality musician plays both violin and viola but after music school she continues her studies to become a Family and Marriage Therapist. The youngest, Alexei, is still in school, but he is a wonderful cook. When home from school he treats the family to wonderful dinners and desserts.
Although I have always felt at home and enjoyed the classroom, it is in the position as an elementary principal where I have been most fulfilled in my work with parents, staff and students. The elementary principalship provides me the chance to collaborate with teachers, all the while still being connected to the classroom watching students learn and grow.
It is my firm belief that every child can excel given the opportunity. As your principal, I look forward to working closely with the teachers to create the needed opportunities in establishing the strong partnership between home and school that will help build the strong academic confidence in students to help shape their future as well as the future of our community and our nation.
My conversations with staff and families have given me a glimpse into the core beliefs and values that shape the culture of Bailey Elementary School. My goal is to continue the tradition of excellence here at Bailey. This excellence starts with exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students as well as, meeting all students and their parents alike. I will be posting a monthly schedule for Coffee with the Principal and School Site Council. The Coffee with the Principal is an informal setting to talk about life and interests during which we will serve light snacks, juice, and coffee. Please feel free to stop by to join in on the conversation.
